Meet Our Doctors

Dr. Ashley Darnell is a licensed optometrist in California and certified in the treatment and management of ocular diseases. Originally from Florida, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biology and Microbiology from the University of Central Florida. After graduation, Dr. Darnell attended the Pennsylvania College of Optometry where she graduated with clinical honors. She is trained in primary care optometry, contact lenses, and vision rehabilitation. Dr. Darnell completed her clinical rotations at The Eye Institute of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, the Salem Veteran Affairs Hospital in Virginia, and NVISION Laser Eye Centers in San Diego.

Dr. Darnell has a special interest in working with infants and children. She received specialty training in pediatric and infant optometry, binocular vision, traumatic brain injury recovery, and vision therapy. Dr. Darnell is also trained in the latest techniques for myopia management.

In her spare time, Dr. Darnell likes to spend time with her family, traveling, and trying new restaurants.

Dr. Scott Sakata is a licensed optometrist in California and certified in the treatment and management of ocular diseases. Originally from the Bay Area, he earned a bachelor of science in Exercise Biology at UCDavis. After graduation, Dr. Sakata attended the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia. He is trained in primary care optometry and contact lenses. Dr. Sakata completed his clinical rotations at The Eye Institute of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, Silicon Valley Eye Associates, San Jose VA Hospital, Fenway Health in Boston and NVISION Laser Eye Centers in San Diego. Dr. Sakata has experience in fitting soft, scleral and RGP contact lenses. He enjoys fitting soft contact lenses including daily multifocal lenses.

In his spare time, Dr. Sakata plays basketball, snowboards and enjoys mountain biking. He is also an avid Warriors, 49ers and USA soccer fan.
